For my lunch I decided upon the Grilled Beer Cheese and Bacon sandwich.  Oh my God!! The smokey bacon paired beautifully with creamy sharp beer cheddar melted between two perfectly browned and crispy slices of bread. The flavors just burst on your pallet. To make this even more exceptional, dip the sandwich into the homemade stout BBQ and you have the most amazing grilled cheese sandwich ever!  The meal was completed with beer battered fries as a side, fried to exactly the right level of crispy to allow for cruch but still have soft potato on the inside.

My lunchmate ordered the Chicken Tenders which consisted of five beer battered strips of white chicken with choice of dipping sauces, of which she chose the Stout BBQ sauce. Chicken was perfectly cooked with moist on the inside and cripy batter coating on the outside. The BBQ sauce just made the chicken exceptional.

My next brew was Skewed Brewings "Breaking Out Stout" with an ABV of 5.6%.  Great color, light lacing on the glass. Slight hint of smoke (the pleasing scent of smoke like bacon, not the off-putting scent of an ashtray) and coffee with the smooth taste of carmel. Excellent balance between the smoke, coffee and malts making for a full bodied stout without being overwhelmed by one flavor.

On August 2, 2014 my friend Kelly and I decided to have lunch at Skewed Brewing in Watertown, NY.  I love their resturaunt and brew pub The Hops Spot in Sackets Harbor, NY and couldn't wait to see if Skewed upheld their reputation for good beer and fantastic food. I wasn't disappointed.

I started off with a pint of "The Juice". This is Skewed's own Pale Ale coming in at 6.2% ABV. Good color and superb lacing. It's a solid pale ale with good balance and mild bitterness with the distintive taste of Cascade Hops.
We both decided on dessert, all of which are made from scratch. I ordered the Dark Chocolate Tort while Kelly chose the Tiramisu. These were two of the best desserts I have had at a resturaunt in a very long time. The tort was rich and creamy with the bite of dark chocolate paired with freshly made whipped cream. The plate was garnished with dark chocolate sauce and powdered cocoa. The Tiramisu was a cloud of culinary genius. So often a tiramisu ends of being heavy, but not Skewed Brewing's. Every layer was airy and flavorful, the lady fingers delicate and flakey. The dessert melted in your mouth in an explosion of texture and flavors. I am not even sure if melted in the right word, but amazing definitely applies.

Overall this was a superb lunch. The portion size of meals is excellent. You are full but still have room for dessert and to finish a second beer without getting that overstuffed feeling. The atmosphere and design of the resturaunt is very asthetically pleasing with a modern but cozy, warm but classy feel. The service is on the mark. Efficient and friendly but not overly attentive. I will definitely recommend Skewed Brewing to anyone who is interested in great beer and slightly "skewed" takes on common dishes.

Cheers!
